Morning Glory Pool, a hot spring in Yellowstone National Park, was named in the 1880s for its likeness to its namesake flower. The national park itself, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, spans 3,471 square miles across Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. The first national park in the U.S., it is also widely held to be the first national park in the world.
