Congratulations on holding your SGI-USA Young Men’s Division General Meeting, which heralds a new era of worldwide kosen-rufu!

Youth is strength and hope; youth is the future. I am fully aware of how you are breaking through your own limitations as you engage in your expansion efforts with youthful vigor, tenacity and courage.Thank you for your continued hard work. Please be completely confident that you are accruing immeasurable good fortune and benefit. You are in my thoughts today as I imagine firmly shaking hands with each of you while expressing my praise and appreciation for the efforts you are making every day.

On this occasion, I call on all of you, the incredibly precious individuals who shoulder the future of American kosen-rufu: Live a most glorious drama of victory during your youth!

Nichiren Daishonin states, “If the Law that one embraces is supreme, then the person who embraces it must accordingly be foremost among all others” (“Embracing the Lotus Sutra,” The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, vol. 1, p. 61).

What determines a person’s greatness? It is neither one’s wealth or authority; nor is it one’s fame. A person’s greatness is determined by the guiding philosophy he upholds and how he puts it into action.

Nichiren Buddhism is the world’s leading philosophy that teaches respect for the dignity of life. It is the world’s foremost principle for achieving happiness and victory. It is the brightest light of hope for creating peace.

I was 19 years old when I encountered my mentor in life, second Soka Gakkai President Josei Toda. He taught me everything I know about the Buddhism of the Sun, which I have ceaselessly put into practice for the last 70 years.

As a result, I can say with absolute conviction that this is the best way to live the most glorious drama of victory during your youth and throughout your life.

My wish is for all of you, my successors, to embrace this great philosophy and let your true selves shine with utmost brilliance, as you contribute to the well-being of your friends, fellow human beings and society. With this, please victoriously open the way for a youth of unparalleled fulfillment and joy!

No matter what trials you face, please remember that every hardship you overcome is a cause for you to lead the most magnificent life. I hope that you will prevail over each problem by chanting
Nam-myoho-renge-kyo and summoning forth from the depths of your life the supreme courage of a lion king.

Together with the youthful Bodhisattvas of the Earth in 192 countries and territories throughout the world, please develop an even broader and more dynamic network of individuals dedicated to peace, humanism and justice that will illuminate the path ahead for all humanity.

I will continue offering prayers for the Young Men’s Division, the radiant stars of hope for America! May you enjoy good health and triumphant songs of victory!
