World Peace Day 

In 1960, Ikeda Sensei departed for his first overseas trip to spread Nichiren Buddhism globally on behalf of his mentor, second Soka Gakkai President Josei Toda. This day later became recognized as World Peace Day. (See The New Human Revolution, vol. 1, “Sunrise” chapter; and NHR-24, “Ode to Mothers” chapter)

Ikeda Sensei’s First Visit to Europe

In 1961, Sensei visited nine European countries, building the foundation for kosen-rufu in Europe. (See NHR-4, “Great Light” chapter)

Start of the Yamaguchi Campaign   

In 1956, Sensei traveled to Yamaguchi Prefecture and, under Mr. Toda’s instruction, initiated a propagation campaign. After spending a total of 22 days there over three months, by January 1957, Sensei had led a tenfold increase in the Yamaguchi membership. (See The Human Revolution, “Turning Point” chapter)
