In 1966, the formation of the men’s division—the golden pillars of Soka—was announced. On March 5, 1966, a ceremony marking the division’s establishment was held at the Soka Gakkai Headquarters. At this ceremony, Ikeda Sensei’s editorial dedicated to the men’s division, “Valiant Champions of the Mystic Law,” was read aloud. In it, Sensei describes attributes of such champions, summarized as follows:
First, absolute conviction in the power of the Gohonzon; second, the ability to face and challenge difficulties; third, to be a leader well versed in all matters of society; fourth, passion to foster younger members; fifth, broad mindedness and humanism; and sixth, a strong sense of duty and the ability to draw up a plan of action. (See The New Human Revolution, vol. 10, revised edition, p. 302)
Today, men’s division members around the world continue to lead with courage—inspiring members, protecting the organization and advancing kosen-rufu in their communities. With steady faith and responsibility, they remain the golden pillars of Soka in action.
