Before his passing on Nov. 15, Ikeda Sensei composed the following poems to commemorate Nov. 18, 2023, the 93rd anniversary of the Soka Gakkai’s founding and the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Hall of the Great Vow for Kosen-rufu. The poems appeared in the Nov. 18, 2023, issue of the Soka Gakkai daily newspaper, Seikyo Shimbun.
Disciples, Bodhisattvas of the Earth,
joyfully taking action all around the globe—
Repaying our gratitude in this way
to our founder who died for his beliefs
is the greatest source of pride!

Based on the Mystic Law,
one person’s inner transformation
is an example for all—
Let us, you and I, my friends,
share this light of hope with everyone.
• • •
My dear young friends around the world,
as the wise, guiding “eyes of peace,”
summon up
the courage of a lion king
to win victory after victory!
