May 3 is the New Year’s Day of the Soka Gakkai, a day when members in 192 countries and territories take a fresh step forward rooted in their vow to advance kosen-rufu in their communities.

The day commemorates the inaugurations of second Soka Gakkai President Josei Toda in 1951 and Ikeda Sensei as third president in 1960. It also marks Soka Gakkai Mother’s Day. Sensei writes, “Each May 3 is a day when we strengthen and deepen our commitment to kosen-rufu more than the year before” (July 13, 2012, World Tribune, p. 5). How will you make a fresh start on May 3?
