Brief Guidances

Showing Our Appreciation to Our “Uncrowned Heroes”

Words of Encouragement From Ikeda Sensei

There are obstacles at mountains and rivers. Even if you have a firm resolve, it may be difficult to act upon. But judging from the resolve you are displaying now, I see that yours is hardly ordinary.

“Daimoku as the Seed of Buddhahood,” The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, vol. 2, p. 805

The courageous spirit of our “uncrowned heroes,” who brave the harsh winter weather to deliver the Seikyo Shimbun, the Soka Gakkai’s daily newspaper, is the driving force for kosen-rufu. Though they may go unnoticed by others, their sincere, dedicated efforts from the cold early morning hours are observed by the Buddhas and bodhisattvas throughout the universe.

Their mission of delivering our newspaper, a source of truth and hope-filled encouragement, shines all the brighter in these anxious, unsettled times.

My admirable friends! Taking utmost care of your health and safety, today again advance along the path of good fortune, brilliant achievement and victory!

Translated from the December 16, 2020 Seikyo Shimbun.
