On the morning of Sept. 28, SGI President and Mrs. Ikeda made their first visit to the recently completed Soka Gakkai World Seikyo Center, located in Shinanomachi, Tokyo.

They chanted Nam-myoho-renge-kyo and conducted gongyo in the fourth-floor Justice Hall, praying for the great development of the Seikyo Shimbun, the Soka Gakkai’s “newspaper of the people.” They also chanted with appreciation for the readers of the Seikyo Shimbun and all those who are involved in the printing and delivery of the paper.

The World Seikyo Center was under construction for more than two years and was completed on Sept. 8, exactly one year after the final installment of The New Human Revolution was published in the paper. The official opening is slated for Nov. 18, the Soka Gakkai’s Founding Day.

The first-floor lobby entrance showcases a commemorative plaque engraved with the words: “Seikyo Shimbun: The Song of Victory of Mentor and Disciple,” indicating that the paper is proof of the song of victory shared by mentor and disciple, which is based on second Soka Gakkai President Josei Toda’s passionate wish to see people all around the world reading the Seikyo Shimbun. The spirit behind the paper and its headquarters is etched in the plaque, which also reads: “Great Castle of Justice for Establishing the Correct Teaching for the Peace of the Land and Worldwide Kosen-rufu.
