Study Exams in April

To simplify the annual activity calendar, the SGI-USA has streamlined the study rhythm by reducing the number of exam periods offered to two, annually: 

• Period 1: April 10–13
During this period, both the introductory and intermediate exams will be offered, allowing local organizations to host exams on an expanded schedule from Friday through Monday for members’ convenience. 

• Period 2: Dec. 11–14
More information will be provided later this year.

For all members and guests who have not taken or passed this exam 
20-question, multiple-choice format
Offered in English and Spanish

For members who have passed the introductory exam
20-question format consisting of multiple-choice and fill-in-the-blank questions
Offered only in English

Registration will close on Sunday, April 5, 2026, 11:59 p.m. PT

How to register: 

1. Log in to your member resources account at portal.sgi-usa.org
2. Go to “My Exams” > “Available Exams” > click “Register”

Registering guests (introductory exam only):

A member must invite guests to register. 

1. Log in to your member resources account at portal.sgi-usa.org
2. Go to “My Friends” > click “Add Friend” 
3. Fill out the required fields
4. Check the box “Would you like to send them information now?” 
5. Select “Invite to Exam” > click “Save” 

The guest will receive an email and instructions for creating their own portal account. 

1. Log in to your member resources portal at portal.sgi-usa.org 
2. Go to “My Exams” > “Exam Study Guides” 
3. Select either introductory exam or intermediate exam study guides or workbooks

A physical copy of the full study guide, containing exam material for both exams, is also available for purchase at your local SGI-USA bookstore or online at bookstore.sgi-usa.org for $5.95.

Flashcards and Quizzes

Simple, easy-to-use online flashcards and quizzes are available for the introductory exam, accessible on any device.

1. Log in to your member resources account at portal.sgi-usa.org 
2. Go to “My Exams” > “Exam Study Guides” > “Introductory Exam Flashcards and Quizzes”

Similar tools for the intermediate exam will soon be available.

Exams will be offered at local SGI-USA centers and approved rental facilities in outlying areas April 10–13. Local SGI-USA organizations will determine specific dates and times.

Your portal.sgi-usa.org account login information (username and password) 
A smart device (smartphone, tablet or laptop) to take the online exam
No paper or hard copy exam will be available.
