On the Passing of former SGI General Director Yoshitaka Oba

I am deeply saddened to share the news that former SGI General Director Yoshitaka Oba passed away on July 30, at the age of 84.

Mr. Oba served as SGI general director for two decades from 2004 to 2024. Throughout that time, he devoted himself tirelessly to encouraging members around the world and helped build the foundation for today’s global development of kosen-rufu.

With profound respect and gratitude for his outstanding contributions, I offer my sincerest prayers for his eternal happiness.

In accordance with the wishes of Mr. Oba and his family, a private funeral for close family members has been held. The family respectfully wishes to decline condolence visits, flowers and other offerings. Thank you for your kind understanding.
