The participants of the Practicing Buddhism as People of African Descent Conference imagined their lives and the world in 2030 and beyond during their annual conference, held Aug. 28–31, at the Florida Nature and Culture Center. Employing creativity and artistic expression, they made collages that included guidance and photos from the SGI-USA publications, plus their personal determinations. Ikeda Sensei says: “When we create or appreciate art, we set free the spirit trapped within. … Art—whether skillfully executed or not—is the emotion, the pleasure of expressing life as it is” (The Way of Youth, p. 84). Enjoy a sampling of these joyful artistic expressions!
