TOKYO—Beneath a bright autumn sky, SGI representatives from throughout the world gathered on Nov. 15, 2025, for a solemn gongyo ceremony at the Hall of the Great Vow for Kosen-rufu, marking the second anniversary (third memorial) of Ikeda Sensei’s passing.
The ceremony, led by Soka Gakkai President Minoru Harada, included 270 representative leaders from 75 countries and territories, including the SGI-USA. In the same vein, SGI members around the world chanted daimoku in their homes and communities with the spirit to advance kosen-rufu in their mentor’s stead.
In volume 30 of The New Human Revolution, Sensei writes that the shared struggle of mentor and disciple is the lifeline that ensures the eternal development of kosen-rufu: “Whether the flow of kosen-rufu will grow into a mighty river nourishing the world throughout the ten thousand years and more of the Latter Day of the Law depends entirely on the disciples who will carry on their mentor’s work” (pp. 811–12).
Engraving this guidance in their hearts, Sensei’s disciples throughout the world have worked hard this year to broaden the foundation of capable people.
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the SGI on Jan. 26, 1975, a commemorative gathering was held on Guam—the birthplace of the SGI; and in Germany, friends from 38 countries assembled for the European Kosen-rufu Conference.
On May 3, marking the 65th anniversary of Sensei’s inauguration as third Soka Gakkai president, representatives from 24 African nations held a Hope General Meeting in Togo. Momentum for worldwide kosen-rufu was further accelerated in August with a training course for representatives of South Asia, Korea and Japan. General meetings were then held across North and South America to commemorate the 65th anniversary of Sensei’s first journey abroad to spread the humanistic philosophy of Buddhism around the world.
Then, representative leaders from 75 countries and regions gathered in November in Japan for the SGI Autumn Training Course.
From today onward, we launch into the Year of Vibrant Growth for a Youthful Soka Gakkai Worldwide (see pp. 6–7).
As successors to our mentor’s great vow to transform humanity’s destiny, the battle to extend the mighty river of kosen-rufu begins now.
