If people try to hinder your faith, I urge you strongly to feel joy [because it is an obstacle due to upholding the correct teaching].

“The Source of Aniruddha’s Good Fortune,” The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, vol. 2, p. 566

Obstacles are a badge of honor! When we battle through adversity with the heart of a lion king, we are sure to gain boundless benefit. Nichiren Daishonin taught this winning principle to his young disciple Nanjo Tokimitsu.

Encountering difficulties is proof that we are practicing correctly and portends our future victory. You, our youthful Bodhisattvas of the Earth, will vanquish all obstacles, turning them into an impetus for dynamic progress. The greater the hardships, the greater the joy I hope you will feel, as the Daishonin urges, in striving courageously to overcome them.
