Congratulations on the Day of the SGI Ikeda Kayo-kai!
You are the morning suns of Soka and the shining jewels of kosen-rufu, encouraging one another and advancing together, undefeated by even the most difficult times. Your youthful solidarity is a beacon of light for your societies and a source of hope for the world’s future.
Writing to a female disciple, Nichiren Daishonin says: “The Buddha dwells within our hearts. For example, flint has the potential to produce fire, and gems have intrinsic value” (“New Year’s Gosho,” The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, vol. 1, p. 1137). Everyone is an infinitely precious individual possessing the Buddha nature. Through the Mystic Law, everyone can bring forth the limitless courage, wisdom and compassion of their own innate Buddhahood.
Therefore, no matter what challenges you face, if you continue chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, you can move everything in a positive direction—in the direction of happiness and victory—and shine in your own true way. Your vibrant progress in your human revolution will bring about a change in those around you, in your circumstances and even in your communities and societies.
Please enthusiastically study Nichiren Buddhism, which teaches the principle of inner transformation, or human revolution, leading to genuine peace for all. Practice it steadfastly yourselves and share it confidently with others.
May each of you become a triumphant champion of happiness and peace as you spread the warm circle of friendship of the Kayo-kai, cheerful and noble without compare.
My wife, Kaneko, and I are always chanting daimoku for the health and happiness of every one of you. You are always in our hearts.
