Brief Guidances

Unity Is a Source of Invincible Strength

Words of Encouragement From Ikeda Sensei

Nichiren and his followers, who now chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, are all [to be counted among] these bodhisattvas who emerged from the earth.

The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings, p. 118

As Soka Gakkai members, we are all Bodhisattvas of the Earth who have appeared in this world with a great mission. Our unity, as practitioners directly inheriting the spirit of Nichiren Daishonin, is a source of invincible strength and can achieve anything.

Playing a pivotal role in this unity of “many in body, one in mind,” are our vice leaders with their rich experience.

We are each linked by truly wondrous karmic connections, having vowed to realize kosen-rufu. “Transcending all differences among ourselves to become as inseparable as fish and the water in which they swim” (see “The Heritage of the Ultimate Law of Life,” The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, vol. 1, p. 217), and sharing each other’s joys and sorrows, let’s continue to advance together in our efforts to bring genuine peace and security to our lands based on the humanistic principles of Nichiren Buddhism.

Translated from the June 12, 2021 Seikyo Shimbun, the Soka Gakkai’s daily newspaper.
