Brief Guidances

Sincere Interactions Are a Source of Vitality

Words of Encouragement From Ikeda Sensei

Your visit from the first to the fourth day of the third month was a great comfort to me. The illness that had made me so thin seemed to go away and I felt fit enough [even to catch a tiger]. And thanks to your gift of wakame, I think I could even ride a lion.

“On Three Seating Mats,” The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, vol. 2, p. 991

The writings of Nichiren Daishonin shine with supreme humanity.

Responding to sincerity with sincerity encourages and energizes others. This is the heart of the realm of human harmony that our Soka family has built in accord with the spirit of the Daishonin, the Buddha of the Latter Day of the Law.

Let’s always respect one another as Buddhas, warmly supporting and encouraging each other, as we advance our movement for kosen-rufu. Let’s forge ahead with such vibrant energy that we feel we could “catch a tiger” or “ride a lion”!

Translated from the May 1, 2021 Seikyo Shimbun, the Soka Gakkai’s daily newspaper.
