I can hardly express my joy at learning of your safe return from Kamakura.

Here, we see an example of Nichiren Daishonin’s warm concern, expressing his relief that his disciple has had a safe journey home.

Safety is the foundation for happiness. Carelessness is our greatest enemy. Steadfastly chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo with a strong resolve not to cause or get involved in any accidents.

Based on vibrant morning and evening gongyo, let’s stay alert and strive to “be millions of times more careful than ever” (“Hero of the World,” WND-1, p. 839).

Doing our best to keep ourselves and others safe, let’s have an enjoyable, healthy, and fulfilling summer.
