Ikeda Sensei sent the following message and poems to celebrate May 3—Soka Gakkai Day and Soka Gakkai Mother’s Day—a date that this year also marks the 60th anniversary of his inauguration as third Soka Gakkai president. The text originally appeared in the May 3 issue of the Seikyo Shimbun, the Soka Gakkai’s daily newspaper.
Filled with deepest gratitude for all of you, my noble fellow members around the world, who have striven alongside me for kosen-rufu over these past six decades, I am praying for you to lead lives of great victory—lives of health and longevity, safety and security, and complete fulfillment.
With a fervent prayer for a great change in the destiny of all humankind and resolving together with you to make even greater efforts in human revolution and to further advance in solid unity for kosen-rufu, I would like to present you with these three poems:
Together as mentor and disciples
united by our vow from the remote past,
let’s share the revitalizing power
of the Mystic Law
with friends across the globe.

Our planet brims with
the prayers of
our invincible mothers of Soka
that will unfailingly turn winter to spring
and create hope-filled treasure realms.
• • •
Successors of Soka—
powerfully ring in
a new renaissance,
where all humanity can reveal
the life state of Buddhahood!
