Brief Guidances

Forging Ahead on the Direct Path to Absolute Happiness

Words of Encouragement From Ikeda Sensei

When you chant myoho and recite renge, you must summon up deep faith that Myoho-renge-kyo [the Mystic Law] is your life itself.

“On Attaining Buddhahood in This Lifetime,” The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, vol. 1, p. 3

How incredibly profound is our basic Buddhist practice of gongyo and chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo. It is a ceremony that enables us to perceive that our lives are entities of the Mystic Law and bring forth from within the powerful and indestructible life force of Buddhahood.

There are no problems or sufferings we cannot overcome. We can tap the immeasurable beneficial power of the Mystic Law.

Chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, which is “the greatest of all joys” (The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings, p. 212), let us continue to forge ahead on the direct path of attaining Buddhahood in this lifetime, the path to absolute happiness, while helping others do the same.
