Glacier National Park was established in 1910. Stretching 1,583 square miles, the park’s pristine turquoise lakes and streams, dense forests and rugged mountains create opportunities for a wide range of animals to coexist. Out of the more than 70 species of mammals that roam the park, the mountain goat is the most frequently encountered by visitors. A union with Waterton Lakes National park in Alberta, Canada, makes up the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, the world’s first to promote peace and goodwill between nations.
