Soka Gakkai President Minoru Harada met with Ambassador of Russia to Japan Mikhail Galuzin at the Embassy of the Russian Federation to Japan. The ambassador, who was an exchange student at Soka University in Japan from 1982–83, expressed his gratitude to Ikeda Sensei for his contributions to Japan-Russia relations.

Beatrice Fihn—the executive director of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, which received the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize—gave a lecture livestreamed at the joint 50th Soka University Festival and the 36th Soka Women’s College Swans Festival. She called for solidarity among citizens to achieve real social change and the abolition of nuclear weapons.

Ambassador of Ghana to Japan Frank Okyere gave an interview to the Seikyo Shimbun, the Soka Gakkai’s daily newspaper, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Ikeda Sensei’s visit to the United Nations Headquarters in New York, where he declared that the 21st century would be the century of Africa. The ambassador expressed his gratitude for Sensei’s contributions to cultural and educational exchange between Japan and Ghana.
