Brief Guidances

Imparting Hope and Courage With Our Confident Voices

Words of Encouragement From Ikeda Sensei

A woman who takes this efficacious medicine [the Mystic Law] will be surrounded and protected by these four great bodhisattvas [the leaders of the Bodhisattvas of the Earth] at all times. When she rises to her feet, so too will the bodhisattvas, and when she walks along the road, they will also do the same.

“On Offering Prayers to the Mandala of the Mystic Law,” The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, vol. 1, p. 415

The Mystic Law is the supreme medicine of life. Those who practice this teaching are resolutely protected by the four great bodhisattvas—Superior Practices, Boundless Practices, Pure Practices and Firmly Established Practices—who symbolize the four noble virtues of eternity, happiness, true self and purity (see The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings, pp. 117–18).

As we carry out activities for kosen-rufu in our communities, we are accompanied by them and the countless bodhisattvas who follow their lead.

Let’s continue to reach out in dialogue with joy and wisdom for the happiness of others, and to realize peace and security in society, using our confident voices to transform anxiety and uncertainty into hope and courage.
