Sustaining Contributions Fuel Kosen-rufu
What is Sustaining Contribution?
The Sustaining Contribution program provides steady financial support to the SGI-USA throughout the year, making it an impor-
tant source of funds to fuel kosen-rufu activities. Members can elect to contribute on a monthly or quarterly basis, using automatic credit or debit card deductions. To set up a Sustaining Contribution plan or to learn more, visit www.sgi-usa.org/contributions, or call the SGI-USA Member Services Department at 855-744-2030 (between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT).
“Let’s Continue to Light a Torch of Hope for Ourselves and Others.”
by Adin Strauss
SGI-USA General Director
Thank you so very much for your extraordinary efforts to advance kosen-rufu in 2018. It has been quite a year!
I know how hard you’ve been fighting to nurture a new generation of successors while supporting our ambitious expansion efforts with your financial contributions. Through our numerous dialogues leading up to the 50,000 Lions of Justice Festival on Sept. 23, we could see how much the SGI’s message of hope, justice and empowerment resonates with people. Many are thirsting for this philosophy and a way to overcome their difficulties, and create value for themselves and others.
As SGI President Ikeda has said: “Hope is the force that enables us to take action to make our dreams come true.
It has the power to change winter into summer, barrenness to creativity, agony to joy. As long as we have hope, there is nothing we cannot achieve. When we possess the treasure of hope, we can draw forth our inner potential and strength. A person of hope can always advance” (Hope Is a Decision, p. 5).
To spread this vital message far and wide and to support members’ practice, consistent financial resources are needed. SGI-USA’s Sustaining Contribution Program provides ongoing financial support throughout the year, allowing members and the SGI-USA to plan and budget ahead. I hope that we can make many members aware of this easy but meaningful way to make a cause to benefit themselves and others.
As Nichiren Daishonin writes, “If one lights a fire for others, one will brighten one’s own way” (“On the Three Virtues of Food,” The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, vol. 2, p. 1060). Together, let’s continue to light a torch of hope for ourselves and others.
Thank you, once again, for all that you do. You are truly amazing!
With my deepest appreciation,
