Construction Specialist

  • Full-time position based at the SGI-USA Headquarters in Santa Monica, California.
  • Requirements: 4-year college degree in architecture, civil engineering or other construction-related degrees, with 3–5 years of experience preferred.
  •  Applicant should have good balance of design/specification and field-related construction site experience, in addition to background in estimating, and familiarity with contract review, especially the use of AIA forms. Candidate must be willing to travel as required by projects.
  •  Candidate will join the Real Estate Team in the management of SGI-USA’s real estate portfolio of more than 100 leased and owned facilities. The position’s primary focus will be to provide expertise and support to construction-related projects under the supervision of the construction manager and the director of the Real Estate Center.
  •  This position involves collaborating with the Real Estate Team to evaluate, design and construct properties for relocation, acquisition and Capex-related projects. Responsibilities include participation in the selection process of project managers, architects and general contractors, along with the review of project budgets and contracts. Travel is required to conduct periodic site visits and participate in design/construction team meetings from inception to completion of project. Participation is also required in the development of budgets, and the planning and support of Capex renovations and related maintenance matters of existing facilities.

 


 

Information Technology Specialist

 

  • Full-time position based at the SGI-USA Headquarters in Santa Monica, California.
  •  Candidates should demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications skills, and have a high tolerance for multitasking and ambiguity in a fast-paced environment dedicated to serving the members of the SGI-USA.
  • Requirements: degree in related field with a minimum 3 years’ experience in the field or in a related area. Requires strong network troubleshooting skills and advanced knowledge of at least two of the following technologies: Microsoft server operating systems, Cisco Layer 3 switches, hyper-converged server environments, VMware enterprise virtual infrastructure, enterprise wireless systems, corporate email systems, video conferencing, information system security, network monitoring, computer forensics, desktop support, WAN architecture, DNS management and database administration.

 


 

Accounting Specialist

 

  • Full-time position based at the SGI-USA Chicago Culture Center.
  •  Requirements: bachelor’s degree or equivalent. The ideal candidate will possess a 4-year accounting or finance degree with an emphasis on accounting (equivalent 24 semester hours of accounting) with 2–5 years of work experience. Must be proficient in Microsoft applications. Knowledge of Microsoft AX accounting system is strongly desired.
  •  Responsibilities include processing financial transactions in an accounting system; analyzing a variety of data sources; preparing financial documents and bank reconciliation.


Real Estate Manager

 

  •  Full-time position based at the SGI-USA Headquarters in Santa Monica, California.
  • Requirements: candidate must have a bachelor’s degree with ideally 5 or more years of experience managing a diversified portfolio of both leased and owned properties. 1–3 years of supervisory experience is a plus. Must have an understanding of SGI-USA’s community centers and their operations.
  • Responsibilities include overseeing a portfolio of more than 100 leased and owned facilities; managing and directing daily activities of the Real Estate Center, including negotiations for leases, sales and acquisitions; completing all necessary paperwork, filings and the center’s budget.
  • Candidate will work closely with the project manager and construction manager to interview architects, project managers and contractors, including the review of proposed budgets and contracts.

 


Member Services Center Representative

 

  • Part-time position in the Member Services Center based at the SGI-USA Headquarters
    in Santa Monica, California.
  • Candidate should be self-motivated andable to work in a high-volume, team-oriented environment. Fluency in Japanese is desirable.
  • Candidate should also have the following skills: problem analysis and resolution abilities; outstanding computer skills in Microsoft Word/Excel; excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; general Internet knowledge; ability to provide accurate responses to questions via phone or email, process orders and complete data entry; thorough knowledge of the World Tribune and Living Buddhism.
