Elementary school division members enjoy blooming sunflowers at the Florida Nature and Culture Center in Weston, Florida, July 16, 2017. They were grown from a fourth or fifth generational seed originating from a single sunflower that had blossomed astonishingly in Ishinomaki City in contaminated soil in the aftermath of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in northeastern Japan. The flowers were dubbed “Indomitable Sunflowers” expressing the spirit to overcome any hardship with strength and optimism.
