Congratulations on holding this vibrant SGI-USA Young Women’s Division General Meeting, which heralds a new era of worldwide kosen-rufu! You are in my thoughts today as I imagine shaking hands firmly with each of you while expressing my praise and appreciation for the efforts you are making every day. You are leading busy lives, striving tirelessly for others and, thereby, accruing immeasurable treasures of the heart. Without question, the Mystic Law is witness to all your inconspicuous efforts.

Nichiren Daishonin states: “The neighing of the white horses is the sound of our voices chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo. When Brahma, Shakra, the gods of the sun and moon, the four heavenly kings, and the others hear this sound, how could they fail to take on a healthy color and shine with a brilliant light? How could they fail to guard and protect us?” (“King Rinda,” The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, vol. 1, pp. 989–90).

When you chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo resoundingly for your own happiness and the happiness of others, all your hardships will transform into “benefits and roots of goodness in your life” (“On Attaining Buddhahood in This Lifetime,” WND-1, 4). All your struggles and worries will shine as manifestations of the Buddha’s compassion. And no matter whom you encounter, you will be able to gain their trust and forge profound connections with them based on Buddhism; they will become protective functions for your life.

Second Soka Gakkai President Josei Toda said: “When you strive for the sake of kosen-rufu, always talking with others about Buddhism, you will definitely break through every problem. The benefits of sharing this Buddhism will embrace you, your family and everyone you know!”

Please have absolute confidence that you, yourself, are Nam-myoho-renge- kyo! And with this conviction, I ask that you work together cheerfully and harmoniously, singing jubilant songs of victory, declaring: “Today again I wasn’t defeated!” “I have won!” “The young women of the SGI-USA have won!”

My wife and I will chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo even more strongly for all the young women of the SGI-USA. Please enjoy each day, placing top priority on your health and staying free of accidents.

My very best to the SGI-USA Young Women’s Division!

May you all create hope, achieve victory and sing triumphant songs of happiness!
