Brotherly Love

The greatest act of sportsmanship displayed at the Triathlon World Series.

In the final moments of the Triathlon World Series, in Cozumel, Mexico, on Sept. 16, Great Britain’s Alistair Brownlee, 28, comes to the aid of brother Jonny, 26, in the greatest act of sportsmanship and brotherly love. Jonny was just 700 meters from winning the race when he nearly collapsed from heatstroke. That’s when Alistair took his younger brother by the arm for the final couple hundred meters before pushing him over the finish line in second place. Alistair, who took third place in the race, said it was “a natural human reaction” to come to the aid of his brother, adding, “I’d have done the same thing for anyone in that position,” according to an interview with BBC.
