Happy New Year & Best Wishes

Message From the General Director

To all members of the SGI-USA,

Thank you always for your dedication and support for our kosen-rufu movement here in the United States. Because of the unseen efforts of each of you—in our SGI organization, at your workplaces, in your communities and homes—we achieved truly significant victories in 2015. Congratulations!

SGI President Ikeda says: “There is no special method for expanding our movement for worldwide kosen-rufu. It is simply a matter of summoning the courage, wherever we are, to wholeheartedly share Nichiren Buddhism with the person right in front of us, to patiently and sincerely sow the seeds of the Mystic Law in each person’s life. Doing so is a source of immense joy to which nothing can compare” (Sept. 18, 2015, World Tribune, p. 2).

In 2016, we would like to continue our firm focus on widely spreading the SGI’s life-affirming Buddhist philosophy in American society, which yearns for a fresh approach to seemingly intractable problems. Our encouragement and careful, tender care toward both newer and more experienced members will be a vital part of this. At the same time, we would like to foster our young men, young women and future division members, all of whom are crucial protagonists of the future of our movement and our nation. With such support, they will be able to freely step forward to create their own grand vision of kosen-rufu.

President Ikeda has described America as “the world in miniature.” With pride in our great diversity and history, let’s unite and advance with Sensei in the spirit of “many in body, one in mind” and strive for even greater victories in 2016!

Adin Strauss
SGI-USA General Director
